Today, with the increase in the world population and urbanization, the demand for agricultural food is increasing day by day. The ways to meet the demand for agricultural food are either to increase productivity or to increase the production area. Since the production area cannot be increased, the ways to increase agricultural production are based on the application of scientific knowledge and smart agricultural technology.  For this purpose, smart agriculture or digital agriculture training and applications including sensors, sensors, microprocessors, autonomous decision systems, cloud-based information and communication technologies are becoming widespread in developed countries. For this purpose, for the first time in Turkey, Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University has established the "Interdisciplinary Digital Agriculture Department" within the Institute of Natural and Applied Sciences and started to admit graduate students (https://www.ohu.edu.tr/fenbilimlerienstitusu/sayfa/disiplinlerarasi-dijital-tarim-anabilim-dali).

In parallel with the technological developments in the world, digital agriculture studies have started in Turkey. With these studies, we are planning to hold the "1st International Digital Agriculture Congress", which aims to bring together scientists who support national and international digital agriculture with their scientific studies, sector representatives who transfer scientific technology to practice and producers who use this technology in practice, and aim to use resources effectively, hosted by Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University on September 18-20, 2025.

Our congress is planned to be organized under the leadership of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Interdisciplinary Digital Agriculture Department, NOHU Ayhan Şahenk Agricultural Application and Research Center and The Turkish Science and Technology Publishing (TURSTEP), with the support of KOP; AHİLER, relevant units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and our sector stakeholders.

We anticipate that this congress, which will be held in the name of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan USLU, who is the name father of the Interdisciplinary Digital Agriculture Department and who did not spare his support for the opening of the graduate program, will make important contributions to the digitalization of Turkish Agriculture and the effective use of resources.
