This study examines the historical development, operational principles, and technological evolution of incubators. Incubators, devices that allow eggs to develop in an artificial environment with proper temperature, humidity, and ventilation conditions, are widely used in poultry farming, especially in response to the growing world population and food demand. Data suggests that the first incubators appeared about 4,000 years ago in Egypt and China. Over time, particularly from the 18th century onwards, scientific studies laid the foundations for modern incubators. Today, incubators are equipped with advanced technologies to control critical factors such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation. These machines contain systems for temperature, humidity, ventilation, and turning mechanisms, as well as sensors that monitor embryo development. Factors influencing incubator efficiency include temperature, humidity levels, air circulation, and oxygen levels. Recent advancements in digitalization and automation of incubators have enabled the monitoring and adjustment of temperature, humidity, and turning frequency based on the developmental stages of embryos.
In the coming years, incubators are anticipated to be controlled and monitored remotely via mobile devices, improving energy efficiency and minimizing environmental effects.
