Litter materials commonly used in poultry farming play a critical role in ensuring animal health, welfare, and hygienic conditions. Typically composed of materials such as wood shavings, straw, and rice husks, poultry litter absorbs droppings, controls moisture within the coop, and reduces the formation of harmful gases. At the end of the production cycle, large amounts of organic waste are generated, which, if not properly managed, can lead to environmental pollution. Due to their high content of organic matter, nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), poultry litters are highly suitable for biological conversion processes. In recent years, the evaluation and reuse of these materials have gained importance for their economic benefits and positive environmental impacts. Findings indicate that poultry litter should not only be regarded as waste but also as a valuable resource. This review discusses the environmental impacts, alternative utilization methods, and economic contributions of poultry litter.
