Abstract

With the emergence of Agriculture 4.0, digital agriculture applications have introduced innovative solutions that enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainability in the livestock sector. This study examines the main application areas of digital technologies in livestock farms and evaluates their economic contributions. Key technological innovations include sensor-based animal monitoring systems, automatic feeding and milking robots, smart herd management software, IoT-supported environmental control systems, and AI-based yield prediction models. These applications make it possible to improve animal welfare, enable early disease detection, save on feed and energy use, and increase production efficiency. In addition, the study assesses the contributions of digital agriculture practices to farm profitability, resource use efficiency, and food security. The findings reveal that digital technologies strengthen the competitiveness of the livestock sector while providing significant support to rural development. However, high investment costs and the lack of digital literacy remain major limitations, highlighting the importance of public support and extension activities to overcome these challenges.
