Abstract

This paper provides a comprehensive assessment of the growing importance of digital agriculture in the face of increasing climatic, economic, and social pressures on global food systems. Population growth, climate change, rising input costs, water scarcity, and structural constraints in agricultural enterprises undermine the sustainability of traditional production models. In this context, digital agriculture represents a new production paradigm based on technologies such as sensors, satellite and drone-based monitoring, artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and blockchain. Digital technologies are classified into low, medium, and high levels, and their effects on productivity, water use efficiency, input savings, product quality, traceability, environmental performance, and farm income are discussed using global evidence. The study further offers policy recommendations for Türkiye, focusing on digital infrastructure, smart irrigation, data integration, AI-driven decision support, sensor-based livestock systems, blockchain-enabled traceability, and multi-stakeholder collaboration. Overall, the findings indicate that digital agriculture is not merely an option but a strategic necessity for enhancing resilience, food security, and sustainable agricultural production.
